Allison Rachal, RN-BC
Sr. Patient Safety Consultant, LHA Trust Funds
Allison Rachal has over 23 years of nursing and clinical risk management experience in patient care, patient safety, risk management, case management, medical malpractice claims review, quality management and nursing administration. Her direct patient care included emergency room, behavioral health and home health care responsibilities. She is well versed in healthcare regulatory requirements (TJC, CMS, DHH) and industry best practices, and frequently educates and trains members on various patient safety topics. She holds an ANCC Certification in Medical-Surgical Nursing and is certified as a Management of Aggressive Behaviors (MOAB) Instructor-Trainer. She is a member of the American Society of Healthcare Risk Management (ASHRM) and frequently attends industry conferences specific to regulatory requirements as well as a variety of other pertinent workshops related to healthcare risk management, patient safety and nursing practice. Ms. Rachal earned her associate degree in Nursing from the Louisiana State University in Alexandria.

Caroline Stegeman, RN, BSN, MJ, ONC, CPHRM
Sr. Patient Safety Consultant, LHA Trust Funds
Caroline Stegeman has 26 years of nursing and clinical risk management experience in a variety of healthcare settings. She has extensive experience in the management and handling of patient safety issues/ incidents, clinical and environmental risk assessments, root cause analysis, regulatory and industry best practices (TJC, CMS, DHH), hospital emergency preparedness and disaster management and quality improvement initiatives.  She received her RN degree in 1991 from Louisiana State University at Eunice, RN BSN in 2009 from Northwestern State University and received her MJ-Masters of Jurisprudence in Health Law degree from Loyola University Chicago in 2014.  She has maintained certification status as a Certified Professional in Health Care Risk Manager (CPHRM) and Orthopedic Nurse Certification (ONC).  She is a member of the American Society of Health Care Risk Managers, Louisiana Emergency Preparedness Association (LEPA), and the National Patient Safety Foundation (NPSF). She recently developed and published a chapter on patient safety for the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety.

Continuing Education

This program has been approved for a total of 1 nursing contact hour by the Louisiana Hospital Association for complete attendance of the program.  The Louisiana Hospital Association is approved by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing – CE Provider #39.
