Thomas “Pokey” Anders, CHSP, CHFSP
Life Safety Specialist, Baton Rouge General Medical Center
Thomas “Pokey” Anders is the Life Safety Specialist for Baton Rouge General Medical Center. He formerly served as Director of Safety & Risk Reduction Services for LHA Trust Funds. Prior to joining LHA Trust Funds, Mr. Anders served as the Safety Director at Lane Regional Medical Center for six years. In his role as Safety Director, he managed the Life Safety, Security, Emergency Management, & Risk Management for the hospital campus. He is a retired Deputy Fire Chief from Zachary Fire Department, completing a 25-year career in the fire service. Mr. Anders spent many of his years in the fire service instructing other first responders around the state and country. He served as an instructor for U.S. Department of Homeland Security Weapons of Mass Destruction Training, teaching Incident Response to Terrorist Bombings programs and Prevention of and Response to Suicide Bombing Incidents in Socorro, New Mexico. He is currently active in Louisiana Region 2 Healthcare Emergency Preparedness Coalition, a member of NFPA and a Certified Healthcare Safety Professional.
